A visit to the Kyoto candle workshop

Updated: Jul 20, 2021

We visited Nakamura Rousoku, a shop and factory of Japanese traditional candles. This is the company that made the special Japanese candles for Hanukkah festival the other day.

Nakamura Rousoku is involved in a project to save and grow Haze trees, which is the main ingredient of Japanese traditional candles, and is also involved in activities such as providing Kyoto candles for annual candle lighting events in memory of 1995 Kobe Earthquake and candle lighting events in Fukushima in memory of Great Tohoku Tsunami Earthquake. We were impressed by their attitude that they hope that candles will bring peace of mind and strengthen compassion and connections among people.

We hope that, with the candles of Nakamura Rousoku, Japanese society and the world will be brightly illuminated in every corner.
